Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, during a meeting with the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria Akzhemala Magtymova, confirmed the readiness of the Russian side to actively cooperate with WHO in the Arab Republic, follows from the message of the diplomatic service.
As the ministry specified, Vershinin and Magtymova discussed today the situation in the field of healthcare in Syria, in particular, they touched upon the topic of the coronavirus pandemic. The Deputy Minister confirmed Russian support for the efforts of the WHO.
It is noted that special attention was paid to efforts to restore medical facilities affected by the Syrian crisis, as well as to provide the local population with quality healthcare services and the supply of medicines.
Today, a number of projects of UN organizations are being implemented in Syria with Russian financial support. These measures are aimed at helping to restore the health care system, the Foreign Ministry recalled.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia on Friday moved a detachment of its troops from Iraq to the Shaddadi base in the Syrian province of Al-Hasake.
