The new technology is based on the method of immunochromatographic analysis – the reaction between the antigen and the corresponding antibody, the press service of Rapid BIO told RBC. The test requires a drop of blood, so a sterile lancet, alcohol pad, and transfer pipettes are included.
The result will be ready in 15 minutes, the test accuracy is 96%. As noted in “Rapid BIO”, the reagents are “tuned” for existing vaccines, first of all – for “Sputnik V”. However, the test also detects IgG antibodies after COVID-19.
According to one of the founders of Rapid BIO Semyon Pokatsky, the test can be carried out both before vaccination to determine the possible titer of antibodies (or their absence), and afterwards to control the formation of an immune response.
Earlier, scientists from the Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor created the world’s first test system for determining the viral load in patients with SARS-Cov-2. The reagent kit will allow you to determine the RNA of coronavirus in any biomaterial: in swabs from the nasopharynx, sputum, feces and blood. Also, the test system can be used to examine environmental objects for the presence of coronavirus RNA – for example, surfaces that the infected person touched.
The new development will help doctors get information about the degree of infectiousness of a patient, predict the severity and duration of the disease, and track the dynamics of changes in viral load.
