In Germany, the first case of infection with the “Brazilian” strain of coronavirus has been detected, said the Minister of Social Affairs of the State of Hesse, Kai Klose.
According to him, the infected arrived in Frankfurt am Main from Brazil. A COVID-19 test revealed that he has a strain of coronavirus common in the Republic of South America. At the same time, the patient has no symptoms of the disease, the DPA agency reports.
For the first time, the detection of a new coronavirus mutation in Brazil became known at the end of December. British experts believe that there are only two different types of “Brazilian” strain.
Last week, Brazil approved the use of two coronavirus vaccines: Britain’s AstraZeneca and China’s Sinovac.
On the eve of the WHO announced the detection of 496 206 new cases of coronavirus infection in the world per day. Prior to this, the organization recorded a record death from COVID-19 in a week.
