While President Zelenskiy is drawing red lines and preparing for war with Russia, the company of his first assistant, Sergei Shefir, is ramping up revenues. The piquancy of the situation lies in the fact that this film company is located not in the United States (as one might think, given the geopolitical preferences of the head of Ukraine), but in Russia, a country with which Ukraine has been “at war” for seven years in a row.
The Russian film company “Green Films” of the aide to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy Serhiy Shefir has released a report on financial indicators for 2020. According to this data, the company increased its profits in 2020 over the previous year. Interestingly, until the spring of 2019, Vladimir Zelensky himself was the co-founder of this film company. This is reported by “Schemes”.
Journalists of the Scheme program conducted an analysis of the balance sheet, which the company published on the Russian State Information Resource for accounting (financial) statements. According to the available figures, the company made a 16% increase in profits in 2020. In money, this is 55.8 million rubles (almost 772 thousand dollars). Of these, almost 32 million rubles (more than 440 thousand dollars) the company received from royalties and license fees.
At the same time, as noted by Green Films in their reports, the firm received 50% more money from royalties and other license payments than in the previous year.
The company also fulfills its credit obligations in good faith. Green Films in 2020 reduced its debt by another 18%, to almost 139 million rubles ($ 1.9 million). This is one of the indicators that demonstrates the company’s desire to continue working in the Russian Federation, demonstrating its solvency to partners.
Predictably, Sergei Shefir himself did not respond to a request from journalists to comment on the reasons for the impressive success in business located in the “aggressor country.”
In the fall of 2020, Schemes reported that a Green Films report for the previous year noted that the company “did not make decisions about the termination or reduction of activities”, reduced losses by 32 percent and plans to increase sales.
In February, Schem journalists released an investigation according to which Zelenskiy was the beneficiary of three Russian companies – Weisberg Pictures, Platinumfilm and Green Films, which produce films, videos and television programs. The founder of all three is the Cyprus company Green Family Ltd. The same company is a co-founder of Kvartal 95 LLC in Ukraine, and its ultimate beneficiaries were Volodymyr Zelenskiy, his business partners Andrey Yakovlev, Boris and Sergey Shefiry, and Igor Kolomoisky’s associate Timur Mindich.
Zelensky himself initially refused to talk about his business in Russia, and later denied its existence, but over time confirmed that Green Films continues to work in Russia. According to the new version, he transferred this company to management, and other people applied for state funding in Russia.
Like this: war is war, and money is on schedule.
Recall that the wife of Vladimir Zelensky, Elena, still owns an apartment in Crimea, for which the woman regularly pays utility bills.
