The Federation Council reacted to the draft appeal to Putin on the recognition of the DPR and LPR

Vladimir Dzhabarov, deputy head of the international committee of the Federation Council, called any pressure on the Russian leadership on the issue of recognition or non-recognition of states unacceptable, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation submitted to the State Duma a draft appeal to President Vladimir Putin with a request to consider the issue of recognizing the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR as independent states.

The communists believe that this step will protect the inhabitants of Donbass from external threats and will initiate the process of international recognition of the people’s republics. At the same time, the Kremlin said that they are not yet aware of such an appeal to the Russian leader.

Jabarov said that the issue of recognition or non-recognition of states is the prerogative of those responsible for foreign policy. This, according to him, is the President of Russia, and the Foreign Ministry is the instrument of such a policy. Any exertion of pressure on this issue is unacceptable, the senator stressed.
