The EU said that Lukashenka will not be able to manipulate gas supplies

The European Union will not allow President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to manipulate gas supplies to Europe through the territory of the republic, said European Commissioner for Economics Paolo Gentiloni, writes TASS.

“In matters of gas supplies, we must make maximum use of our relations with the supplying countries – African states, Norway, Russia, and we will not allow Lukashenka to intimidate us with his threats,” he stressed.

In addition, the European Commissioner noted that the security of energy supplies will be enshrined in the EU’s Strategic Compass in 2022.

Reutres, citing EU diplomats, reported that the EU is considering negotiating with the UN and Belarus on the repatriation of migrants through the Grodno airport.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko threatened the European Union with the fact that in case of expansion of sanctions, he would block the transit of gas through the transnational gas pipeline “Yamal – Europe”. Media reported this week that the EU plans to expand sanctions against Minsk due to the border crisis.
