Ukraine is trying to recruit residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic, who often visit the DPR. This was stated by the official representative of the People’s Militia of the self-proclaimed republic, Eduard Basurin.
According to him, the security service of Ukraine is tracking citizens on the territory of the village of Maryinka, partially controlled by Kiev, in order to obtain information about the military personnel of the People’s Militia of the DPR. Basurin noted that the SBU uses arrests and intimidation to attract people to cooperate.
“We learned that in December 2021, the SBU detained nine people,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Basurin also added that representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SBU are conducting raids on New Year’s holidays in Avdeevka and Krasnogorovka controlled by Kiev to identify persons whose relatives live in the DPR.
“These persons are accused of complicity with the servicemen of the People’s Militia of the DPR. There are also known cases of missing local residents who were detained by the SBU allegedly for the purpose of interrogation, ”the representative of the republic’s defense department explained.
