Denis Logunov, Deputy Director General of the Gamaleya Center, told about the reaction to the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.
In an interview with Business FM, the specialist said that the peak of the immune response after vaccination in each person is determined by the age and individual characteristics of the organism. According to Logunov, 100% of the volunteers responded to vaccinations based on the results of the first and second phases.
The expert also said that 42 days after vaccination is considered the peak of the immune response, since all the volunteers who participated in the drug tests, the protective antibody titer was formed no later than this moment.
According to Logunov, the coronavirus vaccine in terms of its effect on the well-being of patients does not differ from childhood vaccinations - patients may have a fever and pain at the injection site.
Let us remind you that the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry, was registered on August 11.
Earlier it was reported that the Gamaleya center sent detailed answers to questions from foreign colleagues about the drug to the international scientific journal Lancet. Prior to this, Russian experts published in the same publication the preliminary results of the first two phases of clinical trials of the drug.
The post-registration phase of clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine started on September 9 in Russia. According to the Ministry of Health, the mass vaccination of Russians against coronavirus infection will begin as production increases and the results of post-registration studies appear.
