The Committee for Hunting and Fisheries of the Saratov Region has filed a complaint with the police about an illegal hunt for State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Valery Rashkin, reports TASS.
According to preliminary data, the politician illegally hunted moose in the Lysogorsky district of the region.
The district police officer together with a representative of the Committee found a car at the scene of the incident, driven by a man born in 1955. Fragments of an elk carcass, an ax and two knives with traces of blood were found in it, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the police, the detainee stated that he allegedly found the carcass of a dead elk and put it in the trunk. A protocol on an administrative violation was drawn up against him, a criminal case on illegal hunting was initiated.
Earlier, local media reported that Rashkin refused to undergo a medical examination for intoxication.
