Dmitry Svishchev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, Honored Coach of the Russian Federation, praised the victory of the Russian national team over Sweden in overtime in the MFM match.
Recall that the Russian national ice hockey team defeated the Swedish team in overtime in the 2021 World Youth Championship. The game score was 4: 3 in favor of the representatives of the Russian Federation. The goals were scored by Yegor Afanasyev (5th minute), Rodion Amirov (20th minute), Kirill Kirsanov (50th minute) and Marat Khusnutdinov (65th minute).
Svishchev noted that this victory is the best gift for the country for the New Year.
“I would even call it one of the most beautiful in the outgoing year, which was overshadowed by a pandemic,” he stressed, adding that this victory is especially valuable because it was obtained in the homeland of hockey – in Canada.
The deputy recalled that the Swedes have not lost in the group stage of the youth world championships for 14 years in a row, and it was Russia that put an end to this.
“As for the leader of the Swedish team, Holz, who said during the break in the match that the Swedes are more skilled, I would like to remind the Russian proverb – do not boast, going to the army, but boast, walking from the battlefield. The score on the scoreboard – Russia is stronger. We arranged a second Poltava for the Swedes! ”Svishchev said.
