Director of the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Pasteur, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Areg Totolyan said that a decrease in the level of antibodies after a coronavirus infection does not mean that immunity to it disappears, TASS reports.
According to the expert, antibodies are produced in those who have undergone COVID-19 and are kept at a high level throughout the entire observation period. Some of those who have recovered have a decrease in the level of antibodies. It is emphasized that a decrease in the level of antibodies does not mean the disappearance of immunity.
The RAS Academician also reported about the disappearance of antibodies in 20% of COVID-19 patients. In addition, Totolyan spoke about the absence of cases of re-infection of patients who were already in hospital.
