The Czech Senate may initiate the procedure for the termination of Zeman’s powers

The head of the Czech Senate, Milos Vystrchil, said that the president of the country, Milos Zeman, who is in the hospital, cannot fulfill the powers of the head of state and the chances of his early recovery are extremely uncertain. This was reported on the website of the local radio station Radio Prague International.

The Senate on October 19 will discuss the possibility of transferring Zeman’s powers to other officials. They can be divided between the prime minister and the speakers of the two chambers of parliament.

Milos Zeman was hospitalized on the morning of October 10. The media wrote that the Czech president was unconscious. The 77-year-old politician was placed in an intensive care unit at a military hospital in Prague.

The local press wrote that Zeman’s disease was associated with liver disease.

Earlier, Czech Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlicek criticized the proposal to remove Milos Zeman from power, calling this initiative political pressure.
