The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has already begun in the Czech Republic. This was stated by the Commissioner of the Czech Government for Science and Research Roman Prymula, reports TASS.
“The second wave of the pandemic is already here,” he said, adding that the number of new cases of COVID-19 infection is growing every day.
Prymula believes that now the main goal is to stop the rapid increase in the number of infected. Otherwise, after about a month and a half, the available hospital capacity may not be enough to hospitalize patients with complications. The official also advocated the resumption of distance learning in Czech universities and the introduction of a compulsory mask regime in schools.
Over the past day in the republic, the coronavirus was diagnosed in 1,541 people. The most difficult epidemiological situation is observed in Prague.
Recall that today the Austrian authorities also announced the second wave of coronavirus.
Earlier, the chief epidemiologist of Russia Nikolai Briko commented on the possibility of a second wave of coronavirus in the fall and explained how to minimize the risks of the spread of infection.
