In the life of every person, a certain color causes a special state of mind. One can make him calmer, while the other, on the contrary, will cause negative emotions.

People surround themselves with the variety of colors in which they are comfortable and safe. Even the state of the human psyche depends on the colors of the interior that he has chosen for himself.

There is a whole science about color – color science and its practical part – coloristics.

It is necessary to carefully select the color for the interior of your own home. As you know, color expresses our individuality and the state in which a person likes to be, with its help the size of the room, as well as its interior, is perfectly adjusted.

Color is an important component of the criteria for assessing reality, the formation of our attitude towards it, an effective means of design art that helps in achieving certain results.

By changing the color, you can change the whole room or the appearance of the furniture, doing it quickly and economically. You can diversify the interior by adding paintings, pillows, fabric draperies.

A large number of people have a need for pastel colors.

They act on the human psyche calmly, give a feeling of softness, relaxation, tenderness. People learn to perceive color throughout their lives; this is an individual experience of everyone.

Color plays a major role in the interior. An interestingly conceived interior design can be spoiled by an unsuccessful selection of colors.

A certain color will help to make the room cozy and attractive. The richness of color is not in brightness, but in many different shades and color transitions.

Choosing a color scheme in the interior, you first need to choose its main color, and then look for the rest of the shades. It is not advised to paint the walls in different colors.

Choosing a base

The basis of color in the interior is usually set by the largest objects in area: floor, walls, ceiling, large furniture. But the main color may not be one; it will be even better if you take several close shades, for example, slightly darker and lighter than the selected one.

Very often in the interior, the floor will be wooden or imitate wood, like cabinets, tables, shelves, so the tone of the wood or the black / white color of the furniture can set the color balance of the entire interior. If you are not going to paint furniture, take designer furniture or make it to order, see what shades there are from the manufacturers available to you that fit into your budget and taste.

Sometimes furniture can act as a limitation, especially if during the renovation you want to leave part of the old one: the task of fitting these shades into the new desired palette can be difficult.

By combining colors similar in tone in one room, we get a fairly stylish interior design. The main tone will be one, and other shades will emphasize it.

When choosing any color in the interior, it is necessary to take lighter tones for the walls, saturated ones for curtains, and darker ones for furniture, fabrics or carpet in relation to the side surfaces.

It is not necessary to use different shades of color on large areas, its individual inclusions are enough. All details, selected in one color wheel, will make your home unique.

Coziness and tranquility are valued in every home, so the choice of red for the interior is not appropriate. Its shade is used only in the hallway. It is not allowed in the break room.

Orange can be chosen from hot colors, using it in moderation. It does not irritate, invigorates and evokes positive emotions.

The combination of colors in the interior of the bedroom

The color scheme in the bedroom interior should promote relaxation, so muted pastels and neutrals will be appropriate here.

Creamy, gray and “tasty” coffee and chocolate light shades look especially good – they will fill the room with warmth, comfort and will not irritate the eyes.

As additional accents, pink, purple and sky blue details that dilute the monochrome color in the interior are suitable.

Some useful rules

  • it must be remembered that the dark part of the room is the lower, the middle is the lighter and the lightest is the upper part;
  • when choosing colors, contrasts should be avoided;
  • the ceiling can be the color of the walls, but you should not make it darker;
  • take into account the type and brightness of lighting that affect the base color;
  • the color of the furniture is always taken into account when choosing a paint, with which you can hide visible imperfections.

Colors in the interior – what style dictates

Style and color go hand in hand in our passions: often we ourselves do not even know what we choose in the first place. However, if you have decided exactly on the style, it can significantly help you with the color scheme:

  • Styles such as shabby chic, vintage, Provence, French have light pastel colors without too bright accents.
  • Classic style, Art Deco, Art Nouveau also do not differ in brightness, but they can have a darker and more saturated color gamut and high contrast.
  • The Scandinavian style has a light and natural base, but does not exclude bright accents.
  • Loft and English style love to play with muted dark hues.
  • Pop art, kitsch, retro and boho chic are the brightest and most colorful interior styles.
  • Contemporary, eco-style, country and chalets will be based on natural colors of wood, stone, sand, foliage.
