The CIA asks the GRU: Do not put “Krasukha” next to Donbass

As Winnie-the-Pooh used to say: “This is well – not without reason!”. Here is the recent visit to Moscow of the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States William Burns made me think about its goals. And also previous events related to the “serious fears” of the United States about the build-up of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and, as a result, “the possibility of an invasion.”

The concentration of Russian troops in the west of the country and “dangerous maneuvers” near the Ukrainian border have been spoken and written many times – fears abound in this regard. Just right to believe such annoying “agitation”, but the situation turns out exactly the opposite.

While the Russian army was maneuvering, for the most part moving troops and military equipment to places of permanent deployment after the large-scale exercises “West-2021”, Kiev made another attempt at an offensive in the Donbass. “What is the Normandy format? If you don’t see, we are attacking! ”, – sounded from the lips of the Ukrainian generals. And, by the way, it was not the mythical “Buryat tankers” who piled the Armed Forces near Horlivka, but the Donetsk militias. Somehow it did without the participation of Russian troops, which are still on their territory.

However, now the United States through diplomatic channels warned the EU, Germany, France and the UK about the threat of an escalation of the conflict in the Donbass. And, according to CNN, the director of the CIA Burns came to Moscow to warn the Russian side that “the United States is closely monitoring the build-up of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine,” which Washington is especially concerned about. And, they say, pliz, do not interfere in the situation.

It is known that Burns met with the Secretary of the Russian Security Council in Moscow Nikolay Patrushev and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin… It is not known for certain what exactly the conversation was about, the Kremlin said that bilateral relations and international issues were discussed at the talks. It is likely that the situation in Donbass was also discussed in connection with the latest aggravation on the contact line. However, believe that the head of the CIA, albeit on behalf of the President of the United States Joe Biden, tried to warn Russia against any plans to conduct any offensive operations, as CNN claims, can be a stretch. Not the same level, both on the one and on the other hand.

But the fact that Burns expressed fears that Russia could use the issue of gas exports as pressure on Ukraine and European countries, as they face a new energy crisis in the winter, is quite real.

Speaking about any topic related to Russia, even with the Donbass, even with the “fires in the tundra”, the United States has its so unloved Nord Stream 2 sticking out of its pocket. This is a banal competition for the European gas market, where Moscow is actively squeezing Washington out. The State Department, in tandem with the CIA, is ready to go to any tricks / provocations in order to disrupt the project and impose its conditions on Europe. Russian “aggression” in Donbass is an excellent reason for this. Hence the talk about a “dangerous concentration” of Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine.

It is worth noting here, and this, by the way, does not deny also CNN, that the Pentagon, the main US military department, does not share such fears. And, as previously noted by the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark MillieThe United States sees “a significant amount of military movement on the Russian side near the border with Ukraine,” but there is “nothing overtly aggressive.”

Even the State Border Service of Ukraine declares that they do not see the aggressiveness of the Russian troops outside the mediocre proximity to the Russian-Ukrainian border. Even the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergey Shaptala (a participant in the battles for Debaltseve) says that “there has never been any buildup of troops on the state border with Ukraine.” According to him, the redeployment of Russian troops was carried out after the military exercises.

It must be assumed that the head of the CIA who came to Moscow is well aware of the deployment and location of Russian troops, including near the territory of Ukraine.

There are two military districts – Western and Southern, which have a sufficient number of troops to ensure the security of Russia, including during military exercises – on their territory. And in order to send them to the territory of some neighboring state, the Russian president will need at least a decision of the Federation Council. This procedure can be considered formal, but it is mandatory and in any case will become generally known, including for the world community.

Putin this, especially with regard to Ukraine, will not go for a number of reasons, but it does not refuse to support Donbass, saying that Moscow should carefully consider the possible consequences of each step.

William Burns is well aware of this policy of Putin, and he also knows that Russia can provide assistance to the Donbass not with lethal weapons and not with the introduction of its troops into this territory. And speaking of the need to refrain from any participation in military operations, he did not mean tanks and missiles, but the radio electronic means of the Russian army and means of electronic warfare. They are capable of effectively operating from the territory of Russia itself, without even entering the outskirts of Donetsk or Lugansk and paralyzing the activities of Ukrainian drones, including Turkish-made Bayraktar drums, which Kiev has already tested in Donbass.

Not so long ago, the National Interest named five types of weapons of the Russian army that will ensure Moscow’s victory in the event of a war with Ukraine. The list includes the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems in service with the Russian army (this anti-aircraft missile system “spotted” Bayraktar TB2 drones near the Crimean borders, after which they rushed to leave), the Su-35S fighters are designed to gain air superiority and deliver strikes on ground targets with guided bombs and missiles. Mentioned are also BMP-3M, T-90M tanks, as well as self-propelled howitzers 2S19 “Msta-S”, equipped with the latest aiming technologies and having a rate of fire up to 8 rounds per minute.

However, NI experts forgot to mention Russian radio-electronic devices, the effectiveness of which was tested in Syria and partially in Karabakh. And in order to calm down the same Bayraktars in the skies over Donbass, there is no need to introduce Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon systems.

There is no need to introduce Russian electronic warfare systems near Donetsk and Lugansk – many of them will cover the airspace without even leaving the territory of the Russian Federation. The same ground complex of powerful interference “Pelena-1” has a target coverage range of up to 250 kilometers. The Krasukha-4 electronic warfare system is capable of jamming radar stations at a range of up to 300 kilometers. Moreover, they are all highly mobile and can quickly take an advantageous position.

This list can include the modern Russian electronic warfare and electronic intelligence complex RB-341 B “Leer-3”, which specializes in GSM cellular networks.

This complex was noticed during the movement of Russian peacekeepers to Stepanokert, it is likely that the Russian Defense Ministry insured itself in case of Bayraktar “forgotten” in the sky of Karabakh, but the complex was not useful there. But earlier it was reported about its possible use in Syria. In particular, one of the results of the actions of this electronic warfare system could be the case of the American AN-64 Apache attack helicopter, which in the middle of September last year in the Syrian province of Al-Hasak unexpectedly failed all control systems and miraculously did not crash – the pilots managed to stabilize the rotary-wing car a few meters from the ground.

The American military, by the way, are well aware of the availability of electronic warfare equipment in the RF Armed Forces – the diagnosis of “Krasukha” worries them. “Russian electronic warfare units have transcendental capabilities,” the commander of NATO forces in Europe, Lieutenant General, stated pessimistically. Ben Hodges… The Americans realized that the latest Russian electronic weapons completely paralyze the functioning of electronics installed on missiles, planes and ships. “Russia’s achievements in electronic warfare negate all the advantages of high-tech weapons in NATO armament,” Brigadier General Frank Gorenk admitted.

In general, with a high degree of probability it can be assumed that the head of the CIA has now come to “cool” Moscow precisely in relation to the use of Russian electronic warfare systems in the Donbass. It is possible that their “active concentration” along the Ukrainian border worries Washington so much, because it is almost impossible to determine which “Krasukha” neutralized “Bayraktar”.
