Artsakh Foreign Ministry believes that Ankara is hindering the establishment of the ceasefire
Despite the fact that the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on a ceasefire and the beginning of a humanitarian truce, the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh continues: the Azerbaijani side continues shelling of settlements in the Republic of Artsakh (the Armenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh). A particularly tense situation persists in the northern, northeastern and southern directions.
“All attempts of the enemy forces to change the operational-tactical situation in their favor were suppressed by the units of the Artsakh Defense Army. The enemy suffers heavy losses in manpower and military equipment ",
- the press center of the Defense Army reports.
Monday morning began, as usual, with artillery fire of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and with attempts to launch an offensive, however, the attempts were unsuccessful.
Minister of Health of Armenia Arsen Torosyan addressed an open letter to WHO Director-General Tedros Adan Gebreyesusu...
"Today, when the world is fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are launching large-scale air, missile and ground attacks along the contact line against the civilian infrastructure of Nagorno-Karabakh, which led to destruction and numerous civilian casualties,"
- says the open letter.
The head of the Ministry of Health noted that the medical workers of Nagorno-Karabakh are forced to save the wounded under artillery fire, while often risking their lives.
“Unfortunately, several medical workers were fatally injured while on duty. On October 11, when a ceasefire was announced, Azerbaijan took aim at an ambulance transporting the wounded, "
- noted in the letter.
Addressing the head of the WHO, Torosyan stressed that there is a humanitarian catastrophe in Nagorno-Karabakh, the civilian population is deprived of basic medical services, scared, forced to sit in basements all the time. In such conditions, it is simply impossible to resist the sharp increase in the coronavirus pandemic, the minister said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan arrived in Moscow on Monday for a meeting and negotiations with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov... During the talks, Mnatsakanyan noted that the Azerbaijani side does not fulfill its obligations on the ceasefire. If Azerbaijan chose "The way of using force as a method to achieve conditions or their maximalist positions", then there will be no peaceful settlement, just as there will be no peace in the region, the minister is sure.
“In no case will we lose hope that we must achieve what we have achieved on Saturday night. It is very important. Because if we do not have a truce, if all this continues, then we reject a peaceful resolution, we give a chance to continue the war ",
- Mnatsakanyan told reporters after the talks.
According to him, in Baku, they probably do not understand what the ceasefire regime means, therefore they continue to strike at the settlements of Karabakh, at residential buildings and infrastructure facilities. Although today too many humanitarian problems have accumulated, the solution of which cannot be postponed, such as, for example, the exchange of bodies of the dead, exchange of prisoners. The International Committee of the Red Cross is waiting for the ceasefire to address these issues.
Meanwhile, fighting continues in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“At the moment, in the direction of Gadrut and, in particular, in the southern direction, the fighting continues, which can be described as heavy. The Azerbaijani army continues offensive actions, to which the Defense Army gives a proportionate response, "
- the press secretary of the Artsakh Republic President said at a briefing on Monday Vahram Poghosyan... He noted that the participants of the first Karabakh war are being drafted into the Defense Army.
The Artsakh Foreign Ministry is sure that Ankara is hindering the establishment of the ceasefire regime. In such conditions, the only correct decision of the world community will be the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Turkey does not abandon its attempts by the hands of Azerbaijan and international terrorists to solve its expansionist geopolitical tasks in the South Caucasus. At a time when one side in the person of Turkey, Azerbaijan and international terrorists stubbornly opposes the establishment of peace, the international community must take decisive measures, including coercive ones, to restore peace in the region. An important step in this direction is also the international recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh, "
- said in a statement by the foreign ministry of the unrecognized republic.
