The captain of the Finnish national football team Tim Sparv complained about the lack of points in the match with the Russian national team in the match of the second round of the group stage of the European Championship. His words are quoted by Yle.
“In the match against Russia, we created chances and had to score at least a point, or even three,” said the 34-year-old footballer. He added that the team had a chance to advance to the playoffs of the tournament, which should have been an additional motivation for future players of the national team.
The Russian national team beat Finland 1: 0. At the end of the tournament, the domestic team took fourth place in group B, gaining three points. The Finns are one line higher with the same number of points. Both teams missed the Euro playoffs.
Belgium and Denmark qualified for the 1/8 finals. The Danes will play on June 26 with Wales, and the Belgians on June 27 with Portugal.
