The Russian government has supported a project to ban the public display of images of Nazi war criminals.
As stated in the government response, it should be borne in mind that not all persons who committed crimes against humanity were convicted by the tribunals and courts specified in the bill. It is emphasized that the implementation of the project will require the creation of a databank to carry out the necessary identification examinations of the corresponding images of faces and, thus, financial support.
The Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill taking into account this remark.
On Wednesday, the document should be considered in the first reading.
Recall that the project was submitted to the State Duma in November 2020. They are encouraged to establish a ban on public display of images of Nazi war criminals. It is proposed to amend the laws “On perpetuating the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” and “On countering extremist activities.”
