The Cabinet of Ministers will send more than two billion rubles to support culture in a pandemic

The authorities will allocate more than 2 billion rubles to support cultural institutions in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this during a government meeting, TASS reports.

According to Mishustin, against the background of the spread of coronavirus infection, it is not easy for cultural institutions, there are still restrictions on attending events. As a result, theaters, museums, concert and exhibition halls experience financial difficulties and receive less income.

“At the same time, they must fulfill their obligations on utility, tax and other payments and, of course, on salaries for their employees, and in full,” the head of the Cabinet emphasized.

It is expected that the allocated funds will help preserve the collectives and continue the activities of cultural institutions.

This measure of support for the field of culture is not the first in the epidemiological period, assistance to such organizations continues, the Prime Minister noted.

Earlier it became known about the plans of the authorities to allocate 43 billion rubles for the implementation of the national project “Culture” in 2022.
