The authorities of the Volgograd region refused to transfer schoolchildren to the distance

History of the issue

The spread of a new type of coronavirus forces us to reconsider approaches to relations between citizens in various spheres of life. Education is no exception.
Under the pretext of ensuring the safety of students, ideas about the introduction of digital education without direct contact of people in the learning process are increasingly being heard.
At the same time, some experts argue that education cannot be reduced to simply obtaining information and a certain amount of knowledge. It is also a process of personality formation - despite the fact that a socially active and creative personality cannot be formed without live communication of students with each other and with teachers.
In Russia, the government has prepared a decree "On conducting an experiment in 2020-2022 to introduce a target model of a digital educational environment in the field of general education, secondary vocational education and corresponding additional vocational education, vocational training, additional education for children and adults." The experiment on the implementation of digital learning should take place in 14 regions of our country.
These plans of the authorities cause concern among the parent community, despite all the assurances of the authorities that the experiment will re-equip educational institutions and will finalize distance learning formats and programs.

The transfer of schools to distance learning, carried out in the spring in the Volgograd region, was caused by a lack of knowledge about coronavirus infection, but now the situation has changed. The knowledge and experience gained allow us to believe that the general transfer of training to online is not required now, said Olga Zubareva, the chief state sanitary doctor of the region, on October 9 reports the network edition "".
At a regular briefing on the epidemiological situation in the region, the official noted that in children's educational institutions there is a slight increase in the incidence of ARVI, which is common at this time of the year. The incidence rate among children is approximately 9% of the total number of cases and does not significantly affect the epidemiological situation in the region.
Zubareva said that the administrations of educational institutions are empowered to independently make decisions on the introduction of influenza quarantine if the number of patients in classrooms reaches 20%, and at school 30% of the total number of children.
The possibility of introducing quarantine due to coronavirus infection is very small, the official said.
“Yes, in schools, cases of a new coronavirus infection are detected, but this age group does not really bother us, since the coronavirus in children is either asymptomatic or mild. Pneumonia is isolated. If we talk about quarantine, then, for example, in one school there are 51 classes, and children in three to five are ill. So why close the entire school when only sick classes can be quarantined? " - the doctor emphasized.
She added that parents are very worried about the possibility of introducing a distance, as everyone understands that "no one can replace the live communication of students with a teacher."
The chief sanitary doctor of the region explained what caused the general transfer of students to distance learning in the spring of 2020 and why now such a radical measure is not needed.
“In the spring we closed schools and kindergartens. But then we still knew very little about what this infection was. Nowadays, both doctors and epidemiologists know a lot more. The situation will worsen - new decisions will be made. In the spring, guidelines were just being developed, but now we have gained invaluable experience, knowledge of how to handle this virus, and once again we ask everyone to observe all precautions, ”the official said.
