Almost every second woman leaves the gynecologist’s office with a diagnosis of cervical erosion. This disease is considered one of the most common pathologies in women of reproductive age.
Often, doctors in private clinics (in order to earn as much money as possible) intimidate inexperienced girls, saying that erosion is a harbinger of malignant neoplasms. So is it true?
Erosion of the cervix can occur for many reasons. Hormonal disruptions, an irregular cycle, decreased immunity, non-observance of personal hygiene rules, infectious diseases of the genitourinary system, injuries during childbirth – all this causes the appearance of defects or even ulcers on the mucous membrane of the cervix.
Symptoms of the disease
Often a woman may not even be aware that she has an initial stage of cervical erosion. The disease often proceeds without any special symptoms and does not cause discomfort.
But as the disease progresses, a woman’s weakened body will signal the disease with the help of abundant discharge (with an unpleasant odor), prolonged menstruation, pain during intercourse and urination.
Erosion that gives rise to cancer
There is indeed a connection between these diseases. The fact is that any damage to the cervix can become a background for possible neoplasms, but only if the process is neglected, chronic and accompanied by viral infections.
Cauterize or not cauterize?
Women who believe that erosion must be cauterized without fail are greatly mistaken. Indeed, earlier this procedure was almost the only way to treat this disease. Doctors simply removed the erosion-damaged epithelium.
Today, however, there are a lot of alternative methods. In addition, moxibustion leaves scars on the cervix, and for those young ladies who have not given birth, this is unacceptable!
Treatment of the disease
Erosion treatment is often aimed at addressing the underlying cause of the disease. Most gynecologists give preference to antibiotic therapy and only then act on erosion with the help of wound healing drugs.
Do not self-medicate! The use of herbal tampons, frequent douching can tighten and aggravate the development of the disease.
Was treated and forgot – not an option!
Erosion of the cervix is a recurrent disease that can reverse at any time. Therefore, after an intensive course of treatment, it will not be possible to immediately forget about the illness.
You need to see a gynecologist for some time. Perhaps the doctor will offer to undergo a short course of ozone therapy for the speedy restoration of epithelial tissues.
