The anthem at the World Cup to Russian handball players will be replaced by a composition agreed with the IOC

At the men’s world handball championship, the Russian anthem will be replaced by a musical composition agreed with the International Olympic Committee.

The general director of the Russian Handball Federation (FGR) Lev Voronin said that he hopes to receive a decision from the ROC by January 12 on which melody will be taken as a basis, TASS reports.

The World Cup will be held in Egypt from 13 to 31 January. The Russian national team will use the FGR flag instead of the national flag.

According to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Russian athletes at the Olympics and World Championships will compete without a national flag and anthem until December 16, 2022.

It is possible that the national anthem at international competitions can be replaced by a composition directly or indirectly related to the Russian Federation.
