Tatyana Golikova also said that 45 109 people with confirmed coronavirus died from other causes, mainly cardiovascular and endocrine diseases and respiratory diseases. “To assess the situation of influence, that is, the consequences, we take into account these 45 109 – as the mortality that the covid affected or its consequences,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
According to her, in the coming months, the data on mortality from the coronavirus may be “slightly adjusted”, as health authorities receive daily updated autopsy data.
Earlier, Tatyana Golikova reported that mortality in Russia increased by 13.8% in 2020, and more than 80% of the increase is associated with the coronavirus and its consequences.
Golikova also reported on the stabilization of the situation with the incidence in almost all regions of the country. The official called the long-term forecasts “a thankless job”, but there is reason to believe that the epidemiological situation will stabilize by spring.
On December 25, the laboratory of Sberbank “Sberindex” prepared a study called “Results 2020”. Mathematical modeling showed that by the end of the year 16.6 million Russians, or 11.3% of the population, will be ill with COVID-19 in the country. These figures differ from official figures by more than five times: the federal headquarters reports 3.1 million confirmed cases of COVID-19. Experts noted that the real level of infection is much higher due to cases of mild coronavirus and asymptomatic carriage – most often such cases remain undetected.
