Taliban will ask for economic and political support at a meeting in Moscow

The delegation of the radical Taliban movement banned in Russia at a Moscow format meeting on Afghanistan on October 20 wants to ask the participating countries for economic and political support.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Afghan economy needs further assistance. He noted that the country plays an important role in ensuring the stability of the region.

Mujahid also said that the conference will focus on the security problems of the entire region and Afghanistan, reports TASS.

The event in Moscow is planned to be attended by representatives of 10 countries of the region, including Pakistan, India, Iran, China. The Taliban delegation at the consultations will be headed by the deputy head of the Afghan interim government Abdul Salam Hanafi.

On the eve it became known that the United States refused to participate in consultations on Afghanistan in the Moscow format. The State Department explained this by the fact that it will be difficult for American diplomats this week from a logistical point of view to take part in the event. At the same time, it was noted that Washington supports the process itself and in the future the United States may join such a meeting.
