Swedish skier Lynn Swann became the winner of the classic style sprint race at the first stage of the World Cup in Finnish Hand.

The second and third places were taken by her compatriots Maya Dalkvist and Yonna Sundling. Swann showed a time of 2 minutes 54.34 seconds. The other two skiers, who were on the pedestal, were 0.57 and 0.7 seconds behind, respectively.
Russian athletes Khristina Matsokina, Ekaterina Smirnova, Yana Kirpichenko and Alisa Zhambalova could not overcome the qualification stage, Yulia Stupak and Tatyana Sorina finished the fight at the quarterfinal stage, and Natalya Nepryaeva was one step short of reaching the final.
The first stage of the World Cup in cross-country skiing takes place in the Finnish town of Ruka.
