The Union of European Football Associations will not allow Super League footballers to participate in the World and European Championships. This statement was made by UEFA President Alexander Čeferin on the Sky Sport Italia TV channel.
“The players who will participate in the Super League will not play at the World and European Championships. They will not be able to represent the national teams, ”he said.
On April 18, 12 European clubs announced the creation of a football Super League, which included British Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, Spanish Barcelona, Atletico and Real, as well as Italian Milan, Inter and Juventus.
Florentino Perez, who previously headed the “Royal Club”, became the president of the league. The tournament is expected to start as early as August 2021.
This decision was opposed by UEFA, FIFA and the Russian Premier League.
