The parliamentarian from Crimea admitted that he hopes for official recognition of the peninsula from Minsk. According to Sheremet, this will have a positive effect on Russian-Belarusian relations, as well as put an end to speculation on this issue.

“Crimea is interested in developing economic relations with the regions of Belarus,” the politician said.

Sheremet added that Lukashenko may go down in history as the head of state, who was the first to respect the expression of the will of the Crimean people, RIA Novosti writes.

Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko complained at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had not invited him to visit Crimea on National Unity Day. The Russian president himself was at that time in Sevastopol.
