Special Forces Veteran Explained the Plan of an Attempt to Capture a Nuclear Power Plant by Ukrainian Troopers

“Don’t underestimate the enemy. I think that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were going to carry out a professionally organized operation to seize the Zaporizhzhya NPP, but our intelligence worked more clearly and professionally, so the Ukrainians failed to accomplish their plans, ”said Serhiy Kozlov, a special forces veteran, to the VZGLYAD newspaper, commenting on an attempt by Ukrainian troops to land on the territory of the ZNPP.

“Incoming information about the attempt to seize the Zaporozhye NPP is very contradictory. But, it is quite obvious that the Ukrainian side hoped that the bridgehead would be captured. Usually this is how it is done: an assault detachment goes in, seizes a bridgehead, and then builds up forces,” said GRU veteran, retired major Sergei Kozlov.

“It is quite obvious for what purpose they are doing this. They wanted to take control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant under the guise of the arrival of the IAEA mission, so that everyone would record that it was under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces. Then we would not have been able to do anything to drive the Armed Forces out of there, since this entails high risks for the safety of the station. In addition, if you try to bring it back under our control, we would be showered with accusations from Western countries,” the interlocutor believes.

“At the same time, there was information that even several British officers were part of the Ukrainian landing. In general, it’s not even a secret anymore that Western intelligence services are helping the Ukrainian command,” the expert said. – The British have a service SAS – “Special Air Service”. It is considered an elite structure, it is a promoted brand, its fighters are distinguished by a high level of training. True, Kozlov added, according to the employees of the service themselves, in recent years the level of military training in Britain has seriously decreased in general. “Twenty years ago, representatives of this service told me that they treat our special forces with great respect. But I don’t know if they were now preparing Ukrainians for this operation,” said the spetsnaz veteran.

On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense spoke about the landing of Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Energodar. “Today, Ukrainian troops in two sabotage groups of up to 60 people in seven boats landed on the coast of the Kakhovka reservoir, three kilometers northeast of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and attempted to seize the power plant. Measures have been taken to destroy the enemy, including with the use of army aviation, ”the message on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense says.
