Spanish experts have begun developing an antiviral oral spray that can stop the spread of coronavirus infection, according to the website of the Spanish Supreme Research Council.
Scientists note that the spray should use biomolecules (polysaccharides) to mimic the cell surface where the coronavirus attaches. So he can intercept him and stop the development of the disease.
Experts note that today it is believed that the infection begins in the mouth and pharynx. Therefore, the composition of the spray based on biomolecules will create a barrier to capture viral particles, which will lose their infectiousness.
It is also planned that the spray will help reduce the severity of infection in people already sick.
According to the latest data, more than 285 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Spain. 28.4 thousand cases have died. From mid-March to mid-June, the country was on high alert.
