Ukraine wants to receive new types of weapons from the United States, including fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft. Politico writes about this, citing sources, Svobodnaya Pressa reports.
In particular, Kyiv is now negotiating with Washington to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with F-16 fighters, Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and Gray Eagle reconnaissance aircraft. Negotiations are no longer in the public arena, unlike the first weeks of the conflict with the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Washington is working to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the weapons that are necessary for the implementation of successful operations at the present time.
The United States faces a difficult choice, since Washington’s priority should be the arming of NATO countries. But since Ukraine now actually has to cover the eastern flank of the bloc, Washington is inclined to believe that deliveries to Kyiv will be delivered in large volumes and earlier than to the countries of the bloc.
Some Russian experts say that the Russian Armed Forces are successfully destroying both Western weapons and the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who have been trained to use them. But still, pro-Russian telegram channels sound louder and louder statements that the enemy should not be underestimated. And the supply of more powerful and modern weapons to Ukraine is clearly not in the hands of Russia. The conflict has been going on for more than six months, and now there is no feeling that it will end with the victory of Russia any day now.
