Single voting day begins in Russia

A single voting day in Russia will take place on 13 September. More than 56 thousand polling stations will open across the country on this day, RIA Novosti reports.

It is known that this year in 83 constituent entities of the Russian Federation (except for Kabardino-Balkaria and St. Petersburg) more than 9,000 campaigns of all levels are being held.

As a result of the elections, more than 78 thousand deputy mandates and elective positions will be replaced. Elections for senior officials are also held in 20 Russian regions (in 18 of them they are direct). Legislative deputies are elected in 11 constituent entities.

In the Kursk, Yaroslavl, Penza regions, as well as in Tatarstan, additional elections of deputies of the State Duma are held in single-mandate constituencies.

According to the CEC, 171,000 candidates were nominated for the elections. Almost 160 thousand candidates are registered (93% of all applicants).

Earlier, the head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, Ella Pamfilova, said that following the election results this year, the department is ready to improve the voting system to make it more comfortable for voters.
