Russian Defense Minister and head of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu revealed the secret of building new cities in Siberia. He even marked the place where they can grow.
Sergei Shoigu said earlier that 3-5 scientific and industrial centers should be built in Siberia, the population of which will be from 300 thousand to 1 million people.
The minister is convinced that settlements should be built taking into account the resource potential of the region and the development of transport infrastructure. So, between Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk the industrial center “Copper and Electrical Engineering” may well grow. There are enough opportunities not only to mine this metal, but also to carry out its deep processing, in order to subsequently produce domestic products with high added value.
Nearby, you can create an “Aluminum Valley”. In southern Siberia, the new city will give an impetus to the development of coal-chemical production of plastics from illiquid raw materials. The Forest and Building Materials cluster should be located around Lesosibirsk, RBC writes.
The head of the Ministry of Defense recalled that similar projects had already been implemented in Russia before. It was thanks to them that Togliatti, Naberezhnye Chelny, Magnitogorsk, Volzhsky, Angarsk, Bratsk, Divnogorsk, Zelenograd and many other cities appeared.
Sergei Shoigu also revealed the secret of building new cities. It turns out that the Russian Geographical Society, with the support of leading experts from the Center for Strategic Research, has been working on proposals for the development of Siberia for more than 10 years.
