Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic decided to ask for help from Russian leader Vladimir Putin due to the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe. The politician said this during the summit “European Union – Western Balkans”, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the Serbian president, the EU states are alarmed by the impending energy crisis. “The gas price already today is $ 1900 per 1000 cubic meters. These are abnormal prices, they cannot be sustained. Our price is still $ 270, ”he said.
Vucic said that he intends to meet with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov on October 7. “I will give him a personal message for Vladimir Putin, whom I will ask to help us with this issue,” the Serbian leader stressed.
Gas prices in Europe at the auction on October 6 approached the level of $ 2,000 per thousand cubic meters. Saxo Bank experts believe that the launch of Nord Stream 2 would help lower prices. If the coming winter is cold and gas supplies do not increase, Europe will face a “dark and expensive time”.
