Senator proposed to place Putin's portrait on the banknote

Sergei Kalashnikov, the initial deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, told RIA Novosti that he was not going to submit for discussion an initiative with a portrait of President Vladimir Putin on a 5,000-dollar bill.

Earlier, Kalashnikov commented on the initiative of the US Treasury Department to place a portrait of a black activist Harriet Tubman on a 20-dollar bill. He reported on the radio station “Moscow speaking” that the image of President Putin could be placed on the 5,000th bill.

“I suggested that different symbols of the present tense are placed on the banknotes. I was asked what could now be placed on the banknote, I assumed that I do not see any other symbol besides Putin,” Kalashnikov put in his words.
