Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, during a debate in the lower house of parliament, said that Tokyo’s sovereignty extends to the islands of the southern Kuril Islands. Such conditions are unacceptable for further dialogue on a peace treaty, Jabarov stressed.
“No, we do not reject the possibility of further negotiations. But we do not accept such conditions, ”the senator said.
Kishida was elected prime minister on October 4. Before that, he headed the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Recently, a Japanese politician noted that a peace treaty with Russia cannot be signed without settling the territorial dispute. Kishida also promised that he would work to resolve the issue of the Kuril Islands, RT reports.
