For aviation equipment, it is planned to deliver ahead of schedule for 94 aircraft and helicopters by the end of 2024. Among them there are 22 Su-57 aircraft, the number of which will be increased to 76 by 2028.

The level of modernity in the Armed Forces is 70.1%.
The planned indicators of procurement of modern samples due to the measures taken will bring the level of modernity of the army and navy to 75.9% by the end of 2024.
All these dry figures allow us to conclude that our Armed Forces are at the peak of their combat capabilities. At the same time, Russia did not allow itself to be drawn into the arms race. While the United States has been increasing its military budget year after year, bringing it to a record $ 800 billion next year, Russia has been cutting its military budget in recent years. In six years – since 2014 – Russia has dropped from third to ninth place in terms of its military spending in 2021.
We were able to achieve all this thanks to the highest level of organization of the service and the built system of ties between the army and the military-industrial complex.
During the year, the Armed Forces conducted over eighteen and a half thousand classes and exercises at various levels. The intensity of interspecies training increased by 5% and bilateral exercises by 6%.
The main event of the combat training was the Kavkaz-2020 strategic command-staff exercise. It showed a high level of training of military command and control bodies at the strategic and operational levels, the ability of groups of troops to reliably ensure Russia’s military security in the southwestern borders.
The Navy conducted a large-scale interspecific exercise “Ocean Shield”. The created group has demonstrated the ability to effectively carry out tasks to protect our national interests in the waters of three oceans and 9 seas, including the Northern Sea Route.
The ships and vessels of the Navy made 140 cruises to all strategically important regions of the World Ocean, 122 visits and business calls were made to the ports of 28 foreign countries.
The international exercises “Slavic Brotherhood”, “Bridge of Friendship”, “Selenga” and “Druzhba” were successfully carried out. Within the framework of the CSTO, they took part in a special exercise on material and technical support “Echelon” and in the command post with the peacekeeping forces “Indestructible Brotherhood”.
Answering all the claims of critics about the alleged “militarization” of the country, which, as was proved above, simply does not exist, the main thing must be said. Our Armed Forces today produce the most important strategic product that allows the development, without any exaggeration, of any industry, any social stratum, any family, any citizen of our country. This product is safety! We live without fear that foreign planes and missiles will burst into our skies, that our cities may become a target for someone, that our fields will begin to kill the tracks of other people’s tanks, that someone else will begin to dictate their will to us, decide how we live, and choose those who must die. Our army is the guarantor of peace and tranquility in our life. And she does it skillfully and with dignity.
2020 has strengthened Russia’s position on the world stage as one of the most powerful and modern armies in the world and as a country trying to resolve all disputed issues peacefully and supporting the peacekeeping efforts of other countries.
Russia continues to carry out a peacekeeping operation in Transnistria, where, thanks to this, there has been no armed confrontation for 28 years now and people on both sides of the Dniester live a peaceful life.
Russia is the guarantor of the stabilization of the situation in Syria, where our military contingent not only broke the back of the jihadist international, but also actively promotes the country’s transition to a peaceful life and the restoration of political dialogue between the warring parties who do not support radicals.
A special page of the outgoing year was the 45-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh, during which the Azerbaijani armed forces liberated the territories lost in 1992-1993 and defeated the army of Nagorno-Karabakh. The key moment was the conclusion of a truce between the parties, the main condition for which was the entry of a Russian peacekeeping contingent into Karabakh. At the same time, all the weeks of the war, the authority and “force field” of Russia were able to keep the conflict within the closed borders of seven border regions, preventing it from spreading throughout the region and turning into a large-scale war between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The role and place of the Armed Forces in the life of the country is most clearly illustrated by the recent figures from sociological surveys. Today the army is in the first place in terms of trust in Russian society compared to all other state institutions. It is the army that the inhabitants of Russia trust more than other public institutions. 77.9% of citizens declared their approval of this structure. Such data were obtained by VTsIOM specialists in the course of their research. In addition, 94% of Russians consider the army to be combat-ready, that is, capable of protecting the homeland.
Six years ago, at the very beginning of his tenure as Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu said: “Security for us is a verb.” It only remains to add that this is a verb of the present and the future!
