Scientists have found an enzyme that can affect the spread of coronavirus in the human body, reports RIA Novosti, citing a study by employees of the University of Tübingen.
As specified, experts created a computer model of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the lungs and came to the conclusion that the coronavirus causes cells to produce special substances that help it penetrate them.
In particular, we are talking about the enzyme guanylate kinase 1 (GK1). According to scientists, in its absence, the virus stops reproducing.
The researchers note that their discovery could lead to the development of drugs to treat COVID-19.
Earlier it was reported that scientists found out how coronavirus affects the microvessels of the brain.
It also became known on the development of a biosensor for detecting coronavirus in the air.
