The Security Service of Ukraine has brought a new charge against the chairman of the political council of the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For Life, Viktor Medvedchuk.
The SBU accused Medvedchuk of treason and aiding terrorism. The materials of the investigation say that Medvedchuk entered into an agreement with the country’s top officials to prevent the delivery of coal from South Africa. At the same time, the investigation does not name those with whom the conspiracy was arranged.
According to the SBU, all these actions were aimed at disrupting the energy independence of Nezalezhnaya. Earlier, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov accused Medvedchuk of organizing coal supplies from the territory of Donbass.
The politician himself does not admit all accusations from the SBU, linking suspicions against him with political persecution.
Earlier, the Kiev court sent Medvedchuk under round-the-clock house arrest and ordered him to wear an electronic bracelet until October 31.
