Russia’s Daria Pikalova won silver at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in the 100m backstroke swim.
The Russian swimmer covered the distance in 1 minute 8.76 seconds. The gold was won by the representative of Great Britain Hannah Russell (1.08.44), the bronze medal went to the Brazilian athlete Maria Gomez (1.09.18). The girls competed in the S12 category, where athletes with intellectual disabilities are represented: difficulties with image identification, sequence and memory.
Earlier, Pikalova won a bronze medal at a distance of 100 meters butterfly in the S13 category, where swimmers with visual impairments are represented.
On Friday, the Russian judoka Viktoria Potapova won the bronze medal of the Paralympics in judo competition in weight up to 48 kg.
The Paralympic Games started on August 24 and will end on September 5. Competitions take place in the same arenas that were used for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
