The Ministry of Defense reported that the device was adopted for control of the space center of the Aerospace Forces.
The military satellite, which was launched the day before, on September 9, late in the evening from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region into near-earth orbit by the Soyuz-2.1v carrier rocket, had already entered combat duty under the special number Kosmos-2551 by the beginning of the new day.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the device at the appointed time went on a given route and, accordingly, was taken over by the Main Test Space Center named after V.I. German Titov VKS. A clear connection has been established with the satellite, all of its on-board systems are operating normally, the country’s military department said.
We add that this was the seventh, since December 2013, the launch of a light (launch weight – “only” 160 tons) Soyuz-2.1v carrier rocket, designed to launch spacecraft into low circular and elliptical orbits.
