Russian Foreign Ministry: the agreements reached on Karabakh are generally being implemented

Russia states that the agreements on a ceasefire in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are generally being implemented. This is stated in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the anniversary of the trilateral agreements.

At the end of September last year, military clashes began in Nagorno-Karabakh. On November 9, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed a trilateral agreement to end hostilities. After that, Russian peacekeepers entered the territory of the contact line and the Lachin corridor of Karabakh.

“Today we can state that the agreements recorded in the statement of November 9, 2020 are generally being implemented. At the same time, it is important that Baku and Yerevan remain committed to further implementation and strict observance of all its provisions, ”the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry added that the presence of Russian peacekeepers makes a significant contribution to stabilizing the situation and ensuring security in the region. They are actively involved in establishing a peaceful life, restoring infrastructure. During the year, about 53 thousand refugees returned to their homes.

Earlier, the leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, noted the special role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in ending hostilities in Karabakh. According to him, this allowed to avoid thousands of casualties on both sides.
