The Russian Foreign Ministry handed a protest note to the representative of the United States Embassy in Moscow in connection with the spread of fakes about Russia, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
A representative of the American diplomatic mission was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on January 27 and handed him a note of protest “with a warning that the Russian side reserves the right to retaliate.”
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the department notes the large-scale dissemination of inaccurate information about Russia by American digital platforms that replicate provocative content systematically.
The department also called this content “coordinatedly distributed” by the US Embassy in Moscow.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the return of the United States to fulfilling its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program should not be linked to any additional conditions or become a reason for revising the agreement.
