Russian Embassy: decisions of unrecognized Kosovo have no legal force

The decisions of the unrecognized Kosovo have no legal force, the Russian diplomatic mission in Serbia said on Friday. TASS writes about this with reference to a source in the Russian Embassy, where they commented on the announcement of Pristina persona non grata of two Russian diplomats.

Attempts to prevent diplomats accredited with UNMIK from carrying out their legitimate activities at the embassy were called “absolutely unacceptable.”

“We do not recognize the“ independence ”of Kosovo and, accordingly, the regional“ government, ”the document says.

No “decisions” of Pristina have legal force, the diplomatic mission stressed. They recalled that cooperation with the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo is carried out “on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.”

Earlier on October 22, the president of the self-proclaimed Kosovo, Viosa Osmani, announced the decision to expel two Russian diplomats from the embassy in Serbia, who are permanently working in Pristina. Osmani also said that she had asked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Donika Gervalu-Schwartz to declare the diplomats persona non grata, as their activities “harmed the national security and constitutional order of Kosovo.”

Let us remind you that Serbia and Kosovo came to an agreement on de-escalation after the exacerbation of the situation on September 20.

However, last week, Kosovo police raided Serb enclaves.

Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the actions of Pristina are aimed at aggravating Kosovo.
