Russian Defense Ministry calls US activity in the Black Sea a security threat

The Russian Defense Ministry regards the US military activity in the Black Sea region as a threat to regional security. This was announced in the military department on November 12.

“The intensity of aerial reconnaissance of NATO countries near the borders of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea continues to grow,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Over the past day alone, the RF Aerospace Forces’ radar systems detected and accompanied six flights of reconnaissance aircraft of NATO states in the airspace over the Black Sea.

In addition, there are three American warships in the southwestern part of the Black Sea. Control of their actions is carried out by the ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

The ministry pointed out that “the true purpose of the United States’ actions in the Black Sea region, unprovoked by the Russian Federation, is to study the theater of operations in the event of a military solution by Kiev to the conflict in the southeast.”

“We regard the aggressive military activity of the United States in the Black Sea region as a threat to regional security and strategic stability,” the Russian Defense Ministry stressed.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called NATO’s actions in the Black Sea “a game with fire.” According to him, Moscow expresses concern over these events.

On Friday, the vice-speaker of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Bobkov, appealed to NATO countries with an appeal not to flirt in the Black Sea, arranging provocations as they approach the shores of Crimea.
