Russian Consulate General in Bulgarian Varna closed for quarantine

The Russian Consulate General in Varna, Bulgaria, has been quarantined, according to the diplomatic mission’s Facebook page.

The restrictions will be in effect until April 9 inclusive.

During this period, citizens are advised to contact the consular department of the Russian embassy in Sofia or the consulate general in Ruse on all issues.

We add that earlier two Russian diplomats left Bulgaria due to suspicions of espionage. On March 19, several employees of the Ministry of Defense and Military Intelligence were detained in the country and accused of spying for the Russian Federation. On March 23, two employees of the Russian diplomatic mission were declared persona non grata.
