Russian biathletes completed the 15 km individual race at the World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia without medals, RBC writes.
Svetlana Mironova became the best of the Russians, finishing fifth. The race without medals was the sixth in a row for athletes from the Russian Federation.
The best result was shown by the Czech biathlete Marketa Davidova, who covered the distance in 42 minutes 27.7 seconds without a single miss. The second was Swedish Hanna Oeberg, 27.9 seconds back. “Bronze” went to the Norwegian athlete Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, who lagged behind the leader by a minute and 4 seconds. Both medalists had one miss.
Mironova was 2 minutes 5.8 seconds behind the winner and missed twice.
Larisa Kuklina was the second among Russian women, finishing 14th, 2 minutes 28.3 seconds back and one penalty. Ulyana Kaisheva lagged behind the leader by 3 minutes 21.8 seconds, made one mistake on two lines and finished the race on the 24th line. Tatyana Akimova came in 29th, 3 minutes 38.9 seconds back, with two penalties.
There are still six races left before the end of the tournament. The next will be the men’s 20K individual race on 17 February. The World Cup will end on February 21.
