Russian teams in table tennis, weightlifting, triathlon and other sports will arrive in Primorye in early July to prepare for the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo, RIA Novosti reports.
As the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Primorsky Territory Zhan Kuznetsov told reporters, the Russian national teams in boxing, badminton, weightlifting, rowing and canoeing, judo, table tennis, swimming, wrestling, trap shooting, triathlon are planning to come to the region. Preparatory camps will begin in early July.
Bases and sports complexes in Vladivostok, Ussuriysk and other cities and towns of the region will become sites for training athletes.
From Primorye, athletes will immediately go to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
After that, in August, the Paralympic teams will arrive in the region to prepare for the Summer Paralympics. According to Kuznetsov, triathlon and cycling teams of the blind are expected to arrive in Primorye, as well as triathlon, badminton, archery, parataekwondo and bullet shooting teams of people with musculoskeletal disorders.
The Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed last year due to the pandemic, will run from July 23 to August 8.
Earlier it became known with whom the Russian handball players will fight at the Olympic Games. So, the Russians in group B will play with teams from Spain, Hungary, Sweden, France and Brazil, group A includes the teams of the Netherlands, Montenegro, Norway, Japan, South Korea and Angola.
