Russia has developed traffic rules for electric scooters

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport have prepared amendments that determine the rules of the road for electric scooters, gyro scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM). This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the draft decree of the government of the Russian Federation.

The document says that the weight of the SIM should not exceed 35 kilograms if its owner drives in a place where pedestrians walk. In addition, it is proposed to limit their speed to 25 kilometers per hour.

It is reported that the authors of the initiative intend to allow children under the age of seven to ride bicycles and SIMs on pedestrian zones, sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle paths. The document emphasizes that children in this case must be accompanied by adults.

The project also proposes to allow citizens over 14 years old to move on the SIM on the side of the road or on the right edge of the carriageway. However, in this case, there should be no sidewalks or footpaths on the road, and the speed limit on the carriageway should be 60 kilometers per hour.

The decree notes that people on SIM must be prohibited from overtaking or bypassing on the left side of the vehicle. In this case, drivers of personal mobility equipment must be guided by the signals of the traffic controller for pedestrians.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Transport presented the final version of amendments to the traffic rules, which limit the speed of movement of electric scooters on sidewalks, bike paths and roadsides to 25 km / h.
