Russia calls on OSCE to help strengthen borders in Central Asia

The bulk of the costs to stabilize the situation in the region should be borne by the United States and NATO

Russia has appealed to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to find opportunities to assist Central Asian countries that are at risk amid instability in Afghanistan. We are talking about providing assistance to strengthen the borders of countries neighboring Afghanistan, said the first deputy committee of the Federation Council on international affairs. Vladimir Dzhabarov during a parliamentary conference.

“This, among other things, is the principle of the indivisibility of security in our common space. The organization for security and cooperation needs to help states to fight against terrorism, illegal migration, human trafficking, drug and arms smuggling, as well as other types of illegal traffic, ”

– stressed the parliamentarian, recalling that Tajikistan accounts for most of the Afghan border.

The Russian Federation, for its part, is ready to join various international projects to provide assistance to the Central Asian states, as well as to use the CSTO and SCO mechanisms for assistance. Dzhabarov recalled that Russia has already provided and is providing considerable assistance to the countries of the region. However, he stressed that the bulk of the costs required to stabilize the situation in both Afghanistan and the region should be borne by the United States and its allies in the alliance.

We are also concerned about regional security in Kyrgyzstan, neighboring with Tajikistan. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov discussed with the heads of delegations of the Central Asian countries and with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis security problems and the situation in the areas bordering Afghanistan.

“The situation in Afghanistan now worries not only the region, but the whole world. Some international structures predict a worsening of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, which means that the Afghan people need our help. For its part, Kyrgyzstan is ready to provide assistance to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, “

– noted Japarov, stressing that Kyrgyzstan is not a rich country, however, he will not refuse all possible assistance.

The President of Tajikistan announced his readiness to provide assistance to Afghanistan Emomali Rahmon at the ceremony of presenting credentials to new ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary from ten countries. According to the President, Tajikistan is ready to offer “Its extensive logistics capabilities” to deliver international aid to a neighboring country.
