The modernized infantry fighting vehicles will enter service with the Russian military base in Tajikistan by the end of July. Some of them have already arrived in the country. This was stated by the commander of the troops of the Central Military District, Alexander Lapshin.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that the BMP-2M allows combat at night and has an automatic fire control system. The vehicles are equipped with radio stations that are not afraid of interference from the enemy.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon the situation in neighboring Afghanistan, which is being actively seized by militants after the withdrawal of the American military contingent. Also earlier, Tajikistan requested assistance to protect its border with Afghanistan from the CSTO.
